Canoeing
In an open canoe, you can find yourself just about as close to nature as its possible to get.
In fact we find that clients who appreciate guided walking are often surprised and delighted by what they find
when they take to the water on one of the rivers or lakes of Wales. Nature, in all her delicacy and complexity, can be
observed from this quiet and ancient form of transport.
Canoeing skills are straight forward to learn. There is no trick or mystery about the relationship between
paddle and water. And with guidance and in safe water it's something you can start as soon as you step into a boat. We regularly
take families who have never canoed before down rivers like the Conwy and the Dwyryd.
If you are thinking about a walking holiday with us, ask us about including a day
on the water.
Day and half day trips. We run starter canoe journeys on Wales's famous
rivers and waterways such as the Conwy, the Menai Straights and Afon Dwyryd. (Afon is the welsh word for river).
These venues provide wonderful natural surroundings and are perfect for aquiring paddle skills and
observing the diversity of wild life found here.
Longer canoe journeys. We run "Classic Canoe Journeys" over 2 or 4 days
that take us through the spectacular, picturesque and rugged Welsh countryside on rivers like the the Vrynwy, the Wye
and the Severn. These excursions provide an opportunity to use the canoe as our mode of transport to arrive at
walking destinations and remote wild campsites. On an expedition with us you can expect to experience the essential character
of wild Wales.
We also provide longer expeditions (up to 7 days) accross the waters and lochs of Scotland -
a truly wilderness experience!
And for those seeking a more adventurous experience of the Welsh rivers we can find some white water on the Dee
and the Tryweryn!
